Sarah E. Benson-Kuhnle

I am writing in response to the teaching position posted for an upper and lower Elementary teacher at Waylee Elementary and Central Elementary. I am excited about being in the teaching profession and would like to work with students and educators in your school community. Currently I am working as a Title 1 Paraprofessional at Haverhill Elementary.

My goals as a classroom teacher are to assist my students by encouraging independent thinking and the development of strong social skills that will foster personal growth in a positive educational setting. I have used techniques that involve the whole class, small groups, as well as independent learning opportunities. Each student brings to the classroom a unique learning style, and personal sets of attitudes and behaviors. All this creates an exciting and diverse classroom setting in which to utilize my skills as an educator.

My philosophy of education targets the importance of student interactions with the teacher. I believe that learning should be reciprocal, with students and teachers learning from each other as we discover what will works for each group of students, keeping in mind that there are always new ways to teach and learn. I also value the importance of parental involvement and the school’s culture in advancing each child’s education.

I would enjoy an opportunity to speak with you further about the possibility of making a difference in the lives of your students as part of your staff.
